Greetings to you all
We welcome each of you to join us for Cafe Liberty between 9:45 and 10:15 AM tomorrow. On this weekend of the 4th Sunday in June, I hope you’re savoring the extra daylight hours and all the fun that summer brings.
During a late evening walk last night, Becky and I were looking at that bright full moon with it’s strawberry glow in a clear sky and thought again of how awesome it is that God places so many things in nature that silently bear witness to His glory.
It reminded me of that phrase “center of unbroken praise” in the classic hymn “Joyful Joyful” by Henry Van Dyke that says:
“All thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise.”
In countless examples that surround us in the natural world, the creative splendor of God is like a heavenly “trademark”. It’s a sign of His ownership. Each dazzling glimpse we get of His handiwork shows us that He is the only One worthy to be the “center” of our praises.
We all know how many stresses, pressures, problems and hurts can capture our emotions. Ironically, the very energy we need to address a tough situation and power through a difficulty is found in the quiet fullness of trust we find when we open God’s Word and simply ask Him, “Lord, what would you have me to do?”
Among the many blessings of worshiping together and assembling for the goal of the Great Commission is that the simple power of God’s good news stirs us anew to see Him as OUR center of unbroken praise.
