Greetings to you all
At the launch of the school year, many of us can recall how it felt, as a little guy or girl heading into a school building with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. I recall vividly getting into a bit of trouble in the 2nd grade and being sent to the principal’s office. Yikes! Fortunately, I got a wise warning from a perceptive principal who must have been a bit amused by seeing me shaking like a leaf. I don’t recall one word of the conversation. It was his smile, though, that stayed with me. Whatever the guy said must have been effective because, well I haven’t been sent nor summoned to a principal’s office since!
The back-to-school season brings changes in most families’ daily schedules. We’ll pray together tomorrow for parents, students and teachers in your goals for each person’s learning journey.
A few invitations and updates….
Join us for Cafe Liberty in the half hour prior to worship at 10:15 AM. Catching up with a friend you haven’t seen in a while and greeting our guests are among the blessings we enjoy in each gathering. Welcome to Cafe Liberty tomorrow at 9:45 AM.
Prayer Gatherings this fall ~ Along with our prior announcement for Intercessory Prayer on September 4th, we invite everyone to an hour of prayer each Wednesday evening from Sept 4th through November 6th Join us for praise and prayer @ 7:00 PM in the sanctuary as we pray for America in these crucial weeks of testing prior to the 2024 elections.
Church Cookout ~ Sunday September 8th!
In prior years, our annual church cookout has been held on the 4th weekend of August. We changed the date this year to September 8, since the school year for so many students and teachers begins in the prior week (just after Labor Day). Our kids (and a few crazy adults!) love the water slide, outdoor games and fellowship, as everyone enjoys great food from the grill and from the covered dish extras so many of you prepare for the church family and our guests. Many thanks to those who have offered to help in the set-up and other details of the day.
Please plan to join us on September 8th at 10:15 AM and, if you can, it helps the Cookout planners to have everyone sign the RSVP sheet on the Connections table. [Note: Cafe Liberty is on a “break” for Cookout Sunday – no pre-service coffee on 9/8/24]
Food preparations ~ all the burgers, hot dogs, bread and cups, plates, utensils etc. are provided here. Bring any side dishes, salads and/or desserts of your choice to the fellowship hall prior to our 10:15 AM service on September 8th . Lawn chairs are welcome too, though we set up folding chairs under the canopies outdoors as well.
We’re also blessed to have a baptism at the conclusion of the service. The opportunity for water baptism orientation is still available to anyone who has not yet received your baptism. Reply to this email or see me tomorrow (or on Sunday Sept 1st) for the information you’ll need to receive water baptism on Sept 8th. It’s such a joy to stand with you and share in this exciting step of faith in your walk with Christ.
Liberty Ladies Love-in-Action UPDATE: The next Ladies Luncheon will be on Sunday, September 15th @ 11:45 AM ~ Information will be in the Ladies Evite from Marsha Nusbaum and Diane Berry.
